Photoengraved Monolith
Designed by Maya Lin, the designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, this tribute to the civil rights movement is a circular granite monolith with noteworthy events highlighting the struggle for racial equality etched in the stone. Water flows from the center of the sculpture and ripples over the etched blocks of type that radiate out from the center. Rainbow provided the graphic layout and the sandblast stencil. The typeface was custom designed for this project.
